THE number of jobs lost following the sudden closure of Cork-based airline Jetmagic has risen to 128.

Up to 25 workers employed on a temporary basis by baggage handling and service provider Servisair have been let go at Cork airport.

SIPTU branch secretary John Pearson said the union is to meet with Servisair again this week in a bid to secure the jobs of the remaining 80 or so Servisair workers. And airline Jetmagic has yet to hold an extraordinary general meeting to set a date for a creditors meeting. At the EGM, trade creditors owed €3.5m will appoint a liquidator to wind up the company, which has lost €11 million of investors’ money.
