AIB up 37c after releasing results
In the financial sector, with over 3 million shares traded and results due today, Anglo Irish Bank advanced 37c to €10.45. Irish Life & Permanent added 40c to 12.10, and First Active closed 8c stronger, while AIB and Bank of Ireland lost 2c and 7c, respectively.
Despite releasing a strong set of results with a 24% increase in full-year profits, United Drug shed 3c to €2.35.
Greencore also released results, which were in line with expectations, and announced the appointment of Pat McCann, chief executive of Jurys Doyle Hotel Group, as a non-executive director. However, the stock slipped 2c to €3.18.
Elsewhere, construction stock CRH closed 15c higher at €15.35, while Paddy Power lost 17c to €6.68.
