EBS joint venture negotiations fail

EBS Building Society said yesterday that talks with European counterparts about a partnership or joint venture in the Irish market have failed to bear fruit.

“We have no linkages in mind with any European or other organisation at this stage,” chairman Brian Joyce told the society’s annual general meeting.

But Mr Joyce added that EBS was still open to “strategic partnerships in particular areas of business.”
