THE ISEQ index of Irish shares dropped 40.94 points to end the day at 4,447.14 yesterday.

The financial index closed 202.02 points lower at 8,996.8. Bank of Ireland fell 45c to €12.05 and Allied Irish Banks lost 30c to close at €13.60.

First Active closed 3c down at €4.85 and Anglo Irish Bank gained 4c to €6.22.
