ISME have called for a quick end to the Corrib Gas pipeline dispute amid the Russian/Ukrainian stand-off.

According to ISME chief executive Mark Fielding: “Currently Ireland imports between 80% and 85% of our gas requirements, with the majority coming from the UK. However, due to depletions in the North Sea, the UK will be dependent on imports for a considerable amount of their own gas over the next number of years.”

This leaves Ireland in a very precarious position, with many gas users, both domestic and business, exposed to external gas markets.”
