Market down for third day running

SHARES in Dublin dipped for a third successive day. The ISEQ gave up 2.33 points to 6275.95.

The markets star performers lay in the financial sector, with AIB advancing 5c to €16.30. Bank of Ireland also saw gains of 18c to €13.19. Anglo-Irish strengthened 22c while Irish Life and Permanent ended level at €14.85.

In construction, CRH and Kingspan both saw a drop in share price, down 6c and 3c. In contrast, McInerney rose to €8.50. Other movers included, Ryanair closing unchanged at €6.05. Fyffes announced results with pre-tax profits up 36%. However shares fell back 4c to €2.21.

Elsewhere, troubled Elan, tumbled 73c to €5.57. Arcon International eased 2c with negative sentiment towards Lundin’s merger terms. Hotel group, Jurys Doyle softened 34c following Wednesday’s results.
