IBI advised on eight major deals worth a total of €435 million during the year, beating Davy Corporate Finance into second. AIB, KPMG, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Ernst & Young also featured.

In terms of transaction value, however, German investment banking giant Deutsche came out in front by advising on deals worth more than €1.7 billion.

IBI, which is a subsidiary of Bank of Ireland, was also ranked number one in 2003 and topped a separate Bloomberg survey in 2002.

IBI Corporate Finance chief executive Peter Crowley said the firm had a long track record of involvement in the major transactions taking place in Ireland. The firm acted on behalf of public and private companies as well as semi-states.
