Two women executives for Limerick Chamber

THE appointment of two women to the top executive positions in Limerick Chamber of Commerce should be seen as a welcome signal to businesswomen, new chief executive Maria Kelly said yesterday.

Ms Kelly said one of her main aims will be try and increase the Chamber’s membership of 500 by up to 50% over the next two years.

“I would like to see more women become active in the Chamber of Commerce.

“There are huge benefits for very person involved in business by membership of the Chamber,” she said. Ms Kelly, from Monaleen, holds a BA in Communications from Mercyhurst College, PA, USA and an MA in International Studies from University of Limerick.

Joining her as the new marketing and membership services manager is Maura McMahon from Beale, Ballybunion, who holds a BA in Business Studies from Trinity College, Dublin.

“I aim to hit the ground running when I commence later in the month. When I heard about the position, it instantly appealed to me as it carries both diversity and challenge,” she said.
