Ryanair ‘must repay state aid’

Belgium’s Walloon region will have no choice but to take Ryanair to court if the carrier does not pay back €4 million in illegally granted state aid, a regional minister said yesterday.

In February, EU competition regulators ordered Ryanair to repay subsidies to the southern Belgian region, saying incentives it received for setting up a hub at state-owned Charleroi airport were illegal under EU law.
