Call for standards of productivity

The Institution of Engineers of Ireland (IEI) has called on the Government to introduce productivity standards, measured against international benchmarks, in all sectors of the Irish economy but especially in the education and public sectors.

IEI director general Kevin Kernan also said it took too long for major infrastructural projects to get to construction stage and that the planning process was unpredictable and too expensive.
