Market finishes week on poor note
Once again the financials were weaker. Bank of Ireland fell 9c to €10.99, Irish Life & Permanent dropped 8c to €13.62 and Allied Irish Bank closed 7c lighter at €13.00.
Anglo Irish Bank bucked the poor trend, gaining 9c to €13.09. Pharmaceutical stock Elan Corporation advanced 12c to €6.97 as the firm announced that it has formally ended its recovery plan.
Among the food stocks Kerry Group lost 25c to €14.25 while Greencore added 5c to €3.27. Elsewhere, CRH slipped 11c to €16.97 and budget airline Ryanair shed 12c to €4.88.
