IRISH Independent owner Independent News & Media may sell off part of The Independent newspaper in Britain to fund a major marketing drive to boost sales of the trendsetting tabloid.

An Independent News & Media (INM) spokesperson said they do not comment on speculation following a story in yesterday’s Times.

This suggested the Tony O’Reilly controlled IN&M was actively searching for a partner to take a 30% stake at the lossmaking Independent.
