A RANGE of measures to harmonise tax system elements throughout the European Union has been put forward by Taxation Commissioner Laszlo Kovacs.

They include a proposal to have a single tax base for corporate taxation so companies can compare the benefits offered by each member and make it easier for companies with outlets in a number of countries.

Ireland is among a group of six countries that objects to this but Commissioner Kovacs suggests that those in favour of harmonising their base could do so.
