PROFITS at leading architects Scott Tallon Walker rose by nearly half in 2004.

Accounts just filed show pre-tax profits last year increased to €1.31 million from €895,000 in 2003.

With profits rising strongly, the company boosted dividend payments to shareholders - who include its 10 directors. They shared €895,430, nearly double the dividend paid in 2003.

Turnover at the company, which has offices in Dublin, Cork, Galway and London, rose to €10.3m.

“Both the level of business and the year end position were satisfactory and the directors expect that the present level of activity will be sustained for the foreseeable future,” it said.

Scott Tallon Walker has been involved in major projects over the year and is currently working on the massive redevelopment of Spencer Dock in Dublin.

Accounts show a healthy balance sheet with cash of €5.3m and shareholders’ funds of more than €5.6m.

At the end of 2004, some 100 people were employed, including 86 architects.

The average salary per employee was €63,000.
