Former bank chief under investigation

Bank of China’s Hong Kong unit, the city’s second-largest lender, said former chief executive officer Liu Jinbao is being investigated by authorities in China for alleged misappropriation of funds for “personal purposes”.

Liu, 51, was transferred back to China in May 2003 and fired in February amid an earlier fraud probe.
