Italy’s employer lobby talks tough

Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, the newly-elected chairman of Italy’s employer lobby, said Italian industry must invest to pull the country out of its economic slump, Corriere della Sera reported.

“Today we need major public and private investment in innovation,” Mr Montezemolo said.

Mr Montezemolo also said business shouldn’t blame competition from China for its problems.

“I’m from a generation that grew up in grave fear of Japan, but in the end we overcame even that,” he said.
