ISEQ rises for sixth consecutive day

Shares in Dublin increased for the sixth consecutive day, mirroring gains across Britain and Europe. The ISEQ index rose 52.35 points to 7482.43 at the closing bell.

The financial sector led the advance, rising 88.91 points overall. AIB and Bank of Ireland both saw gains, up 2c and 24c respectively while in the second line, Anglo Irish firmed 15c to €12.97. Irish Life and Permanent bucked the trend, giving up 23c to cross the line at €16.80.

Elsewhere construction giant CRH added 20c to €25.50. Food group C&C jumped 30c to €5.80 while Eircom finished stronger, up 6c to €2.05. Elan climbed 11c to €11.65.
