Market eases ahead in slack trade

WITH modest trading volumes and a lack news the Irish market was flat yesterday, up just 8.62 points at 6685.23.

The main financials were weaker. AIB gave up 8c to €17.55 while Anglo Irish shed 3c to €10.80. Bank of Ireland, which announced that Tony Wyatt has been appointed as director of customer operations, lost 4c to €12.86. On the upside Irish Life & Permanent, which is due to report results later this week, nudged ahead 5c to €14.85.

Also reporting this week is Telecommunications Company eircom, which gained 2c to €1.76. Bookmaker Paddy Power, climbed 23c to €15.70, while low cost airline Ryanair gained 4c to €6.93.
