THE Financial Services Regulator says there may be evidence that AIB officials tried to cover up the bank’s overcharging scandals.

Liam O’Reilly, the chief executive of IFSRA, said his investigators were looking into how the overcharging of some foreign exchange customers went unnoticed for eight years.

He said it was not uncommon for banks to make errors but they had to be made public and rectified.
