THE recommendations of the FSA (Food Standards Agency) to the British Government on the OTM (Over Thirty Months) animals for the food chain are as anticipated — a phased removal of the ban with testing of animals to be introduced.

The FSA has recommended that OTM animals which were born after August 1, 1996, should be allowed to re-enter the food chain provided they are tested for BSE.

They suggested a reintroduction date of January 1, 2004.
