TCH outsources printing

IRISH Examiner owners Thomas Crosbie Holdings Limited (TCH) has signed contracts to outsource its printing functions to Webprint Concepts Ltd.

TCH outsources printing

Under the deal, all of TCH’s 14 titles, with the exception of The Irish Post, the group’s British title, will be printed in Mahon Point.

TCH has acquired a site in Mahon on which it is currently constructing a specialised building which will be leased to Webprint, on a long term basis. Webprint, established by Donagh O’Doherty, shall purchase the printing press and ancillary equipment. Printing at the new state of the art facility will commence in early 2006 with TCH as anchor client. It is anticipated that the new company will employ over 40 staff at start-up.

Donagh O’Doherty said: “We are delighted with the contract to print the titles of this major player in Irish publishing.

“We need to be one of the most efficient plants in the country as the industry is becoming highly competitive with so many new facilities being built. Our plan is to take on new contracts once the TCH titles are bedded in.”

TCH Group MD, Anthony Dinan said: “This is an historical and significant move for TCH, having printed our own titles for over 160 years. I am confident that Webprint will deliver the highest quality newspapers including full colour facilities on our behalf. This will benefit our growing readership across all titles and provide greater flexibility and options for our advertisers.”
