Shellfish industry protests aid delay

THE shellfish industry claimed yesterday it is being stopped dead in its tracks because technical problems are holding up grant payments.

It said it is straining at the bit to develop jobs and secure existing employment by investing in a better system of production and processing.

However, it insisted it cannot do this in peripheral coastal areas without capital grant aid.
