Tax take up 12% to E11bn in four months

The Department of Finance’s monthly cashflow statement showed the Government’s tax revenue topped E11 billion in the four months to April, up from E9.9bn in the same period last year. The figures provided positive signals on the state of the economy, with tax receipts from wages, consumer spending and stamp duty all ahead.

The Government took in almost 3.9bn in VAT in the year to April, an 11% increase on last year that reflected higher consumer spending on goods and services.
