The ISEQ index started the week on a positive note, rising 22.31 points to 4059.65

It was a mixed day for the financial sector with Allied Irish Bank putting in a strong performance, climbing 25c to €12.90 and First Active gained 14c to €5.40. Irish Life & Permanent dropped 14c to €10.41 while Anglo Irish Bank eased 2c to €6.63. Bank of Ireland advanced 5c to €10.00. Overall the ISEQ financial index gained 77.00 points to 8063.18.

Construction stocks lost ground as sentiment turned more cautious. CRH fell 36c to €11.99, McInerney Holdings lost 10c to €2.10 and Heiton Group finished 5c weaker at €2.05. Kingspan dropped 1c to €1.64 while Grafton Group fell 2c to €3.47.
