Philips’ profit up again

Royal Philips Electronics NV, Europe’s largest consumer-electronics maker, posted a fourth straight quarterly profit on increased sales of flat-screen display and semiconductors used in mobile phones.

First-quarter net income was €550 million ($664 million), or 43 cents a share, compared with a loss of €69 million, or 5 cents, a year earlier.
