Glazer ups United stake

AMERICAN football sports tycoon Malcolm Glazer’s has continued his stake building strategy in Manchester United as the owner of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers spent stg£10.25 million to increase his stake to 18.25%.

However, Mr Glazer’s holding still lags well behind the stake held by John Magnier and JP McManus, whose investment vehicle Cubic Expression owns 28.9% of the club.

Shares in United rose to a six-week high after Glazer bought 4.1 million United shares. He previously held 16.7% of the club.
