CATERING group Compass is understood to have approached the former chief executive of plasterboard maker BPB to take over as chief executive, it was reported yesterday.

Richard Cousins oversaw the acquisition of BPB by rival Saint-Gobain, forcing the French firm to up its original £3.6 billion (€5.2 billion) offer for the group to £3.9bn (€5.6bn).

It is understood that he has been approached by headhunters Korn Ferry to take over as chief executive of Compass, according to reports.
