Dunnes to anchor €500m project

DUNNES STORES is to anchor both the food and drapery sections of the new €500 million Ballincollig Town Centre, it has been confirmed.

The county’s largest retailer is taking 60,000 sq ft of shopping space in the development, which will have more than 30 other retailers. Contracts were finally signed this week, and Dunnes Stores saw off opposition primarily from Tesco to take the two key retailing units in the town centre complex which will add almost 200,000 sq ft of new shopping to Ballincollig.

“When completed, the development means that Ballincollig will be able to rival Douglas across the city for the amount of shopping on offer,” says estate agent Frank Ryan of DTZ Sherry FitzGerald, handling the remaining 120,000 sq ft of retail lettings to Irish and British retailers with HOK.
