Abbey to cut costsby €670m by 2007

The mortgage lender Abbey National, said it will combine divisions and cut directors to reduce costs and increase sales.

Spain’s Santander Central Hispano SA paid €13.43 billion for Abbey earlier this month and is trying to cut annual costs and boost revenue by a combined €670 million by 2007.
