El Al reports loss after fuel rises

EL AL Israel Airlines, the country’s flag carrier, reported its first loss in six quarters because of higher spending on jet fuel and a payment to cover early retirement.

The fourth- quarter net loss was €20.05m against a profit of $9.6m a year earlier, the airline said yesterday. Revenue climbed 14% to $346m.
