35% coverage for 3G network

Mobile operator O2 Ireland said its 3G network coverage now extended to 35% of the population and covered Dublin city and county, as well as the cities of Cork, Limerick, Galway, Waterford and Kilkenny.

In December 2003, O2 announced it had begun limited 3G services on a trial basis.

Oliver Coughlan, chief technology officer, O2 Ireland, said: “We have made solid progress in the building of our 3G network and we will further extend our network coverage and capacity.”
