Airtricity to build huge windfarm

Renewable energy company Airtricity has started work on the country’s biggest-ever windfarm near Ballybofey.

The project will cost €80 million and is expected to be finished in early 2005.

The company has contracted Roadbridge, the Limerick-based civil engineering contractor and Bonus Energy, a specialist Danish turbine manufacturer, to work on construction. Some of the turbines will rise to 100 metres.
