Shares higher on light trading

ON a thin day’s trading, shares in Dublin edged into positive territory. After a bout of profit taking early in the day, the ISEQ nudged 13.13 points to 5396.24.

The financials were mostly solid on a mixed day overall. AIB and Bank of Ireland dragged the market 2c and 3c respectively, while Anglo-Irish and Irish Life & Permanent both posted gains.

Construction stocks put in a solid performance as sector leaders CRH firmed 18c to €18.65. Grafton added 1c to €7.05 while Heiton, which is the subject of a possible takeover, rose 7c to €6.60.
