NTL benefits from price increases

CABLE TV operator NTL benefited from price increases and more subscribers to its digital service to record a 21% increase in revenue from its Irish operations last year.

The company, which provides cable services in Dublin, Galway and Waterford, said yesterday that it generated sales of £72.5 million (€108 million) and made profits of £25.4 million, a 72% increase on 2002.

NTL's Irish figures were boosted by the euro strengthening by almost 10% against sterling during the year. Revenues generated in Ireland were worth more when converted to sterling, the group's reporting currency.
