Financials drive market forward
The Dublin market closed up 91.40 points to 6729.26
The Banks led the charge, leader AIB adding 20c to €17.85. Rival Bank of Ireland increased in value by 6c to €13.75. Anglo-Irish jumped 40c to €10.90 and Irish Life & Permanent climbed 10c to €14.50.
The Construction sector moved forward with CRH strengthening by 24c to €22.60. Grafton climbed 8c to €8.88 and Kingspan rose 4c to close at €10.39.
Elsewhere, pharmaceutical company Elan announced positive news on the effectiveness of it's Tysabri drug in trials with Biogen's drug Avonex. On the back of this Elan powered ahead 56c to end trading at €6.57.
