Bovril asks where’s the beef

The makers of Bovril have removed the winter warming drink’s main ingredient - beef - in a bid to boost sales.

Unilever has replaced the product’s beef extract content with a savoury yeast mix, similar to Marmite.

The move is designed to widen the appeal of Bovril to include vegetarians and to counter concerns overseas in the wake of BSE.
