Bank stocks drive market

SHARES in Dublin rose for the seventh consecutive day with the banking stocks the catalyst. The ISEQ added 28.22 points to 7757.90.

The financials ended the day 144.24 points higher with AIB 27c stronger at €19.45 with over six million shares changing hands while Bank of Ireland added 10c to €14.75. Anglo Irish also strengthened 14c to €13.05 while Irish Life and Permanent gained 8c to €17.93.

The construction stocks finished in positive territory with Grafton Group advancing 11c to €9.46 while CRH and Kingspan were up 12c and 3c. Eircom climbed 4c to €2.10, Elan fell 20c to €12.00.
