Approval for AIDS finger-prick test

Trinity Biotech, Ireland’s largest maker of diagnostic tests, said US regulators approved use of its AIDS finger-prick test in doctors’ offices, health clinics and HIV-counselling centres.

The shares rose as much as 11%. The waiver given by The Food and Drug Administration will allow Bray, Ireland-based Trinity to make the Uni-Gold Recombigen test available in around 200,000 US locations.
