Market declines after week of gains

The ISEQ index weakened for the first day in seven. At the closing bell the Irish exchange was 12.89 points lower at 7469.54.

The financial sector fell by 18.26 points overall. AIB climbed 9c to €18.41 while Bank of Ireland lost 14c to €13.95. Anglo-Irish dropped 2c to €12.95 with Irish Life & Permanent climbing 5c to €16.85.

In construction, Kingspan lost 24c to €10.91 following a trading update indicating operating profit and earnings growth to be in line with expectation. CRH added 3c to €25.53 while Grafton Group fell by 18c to €9.37.
