Late rally spurs market
In the Financial sector, AIB jumped 18c to close at €19.70 while Bank of Ireland also gained up 7c to €15.35. Anglo Irish rose 28c to €13.58 with 3.7 million shares traded. Irish Life & Permanent was unchanged at €19.70.
Construction giant CRH moved 30c ahead to €28.80 as newsflow from competitors in the US continues to show increasing profit boding well for CRH’s US operations. Grafton also strengthened by 24c to €10.83.
Elsewhere, Fyffes announced a joint venture with Indian fruit agency Suri, the share price lost 2c, falling to €2.22. Ryanair added 6c to €7.76. Elan closed 15c lighter at €11.90 on light trading volumes.
