Elan gives market welcome boost

MARKETS across Europe were mixed yesterday, the ISEQ index remained ahead for most of the day, and closed 43.78 points stronger at 5117.13.

Pharmaceutical company Elan was the biggest mover on the day and rose 74c to €16.14.

In the financials, Bank of Ireland advanced 12c to €10.27 while Anglo Irish Bank added 18c. On the downside Allied Irish Bank shed 7c to finish at €12.00.
