ISEQ rebounds to close up 29.76 points

The ISEQ index rebounded somewhat from recent declines to close in positive ground. The Dublin Exchange climbed 29.76 points to 7159.25.

In the financial sector, AIB slipped back 5c to €17.90 while rival Bank of Ireland dipped 4c to €13.35. Anglo Irish jumped 16c to €12.18 with over 2.9 million shares traded.

Fyffes announced yesterday the spin-off of a property company Bluestone Properties with initial assets of €200 million. The share price reacted positively and closed up 13c to €2.26.

In construction, CRH gained 50c as news from an US peer showed strong earnings indicating a buoyant US market.

Elsewhere, IAWS announced it had increased its stake in Swiss baker Hiestand to 32% at a cost of €30 million.
