Plea to support mobile television

MOBILE MESSAGING FORUM chairman Eamon Hession has called on the Government and the mobile and broadcasting industries to take decisive action to support the introduction of mobile TV in Ireland.

Plea to support mobile television

The MMF has called for an early decision to free up the necessary spectrum needed to support new mobile TV technology.

Mr Hession said: “A clear decision is needed to free up the necessary spectrum if Irish consumers are to benefit from the latest mobile TV technology.

“The technology is a dramatic improvement on existing mobile services and has the potential to revolutionise the way we use our mobile phones.

“Flat-rate mobile TV services and pay-per-view broadcasts will be great for those who can’t bear to miss a goal or the latest episode of their favourite soap opera.

The day when TV fans watch their favourite prime-time shows on their mobiles may come sooner than expected.”
