French stocks on the up

FRENCH stocks climbed, paced by companies whose earnings or sales beat estimates, including Alcatel, France Telecom, Pernod Ricard and Arcelor.

The CAC 40 Index rose 29.13, to 4462.26 in Paris, with all but eight of its members advancing. This was its highest in more than three years. Shares of drinks group Pernod rose 2.1% to €138.
