Lack of corporate news hits market

THE ISEQ index leveled off yesterday after the previous days rally with little in the way of corporate news to boost the market. The benchmark index closed down 4.95 points to 6781.07.

AIB fell by 6c to €17.68, while rival Bank of Ireland dropped 12c to €13.03. Anglo-Irish remained at €11.35 and Irish Life & Permanent strengthened 5c to €15.00.

In Construction McInerney recovered from the previous day's slump, climbing 7c to €8.47. CRH shed 9c to €23.69, while Kingspan added 3c to close at €10.75.
