Dublin: Drug maker Elan said Seamus Mulligan, its executive vice president for business and corporate development, was leaving following the completion of the firm’s recovery plan.

Mulligan, who joined Elan in 1984, played a key role in the programme, undertaken after the group’s stock collapsed in 2002 amid fears about looming debt and a probe by US regulators into its accounting practices.

“We appreciate Seamus’s many contributions and devotion to Elan, especially in the last 20 months, and wish him well in his future endeavours,” said chief executive Kelly Martin.
