Europe approves cement takeover

Irish concrete group Readymix’s majority shareholder RMC has postponed the court hearing required to approve its takeover by Mexican cement giant Cemex.

RMC and Cemex said the European Commission has approved the deal but the American authorities were still considering it.

Both companies were confident the clearance would be given before the end of next month.
