LIMERICK-BASED biotechnology company Stokes Bio Limited has secured first round funding of €1 million from Cork-based venture capital firm Kernel Capital Partners.

A spin-out from the Stokes Research Institute at the University of Limerick, Stokes Bio Limited develops microfluidics-based diagnostic systems for the genetic diagnosis of cancer.

Childhood leukaemia is the initial target disease around which the microfluidics based platform technology is developed.
