THE Nymex Dublin experiment that started with such great hope in November 2004 collapsed because of a serious lack of oil trades through the centre.

Up to 10,000 contracts per day had been anticipated by Nymex in its first move outside of New York.

It opted for Dublin due to the quick approval that was forthcoming.
