Keohane new Tesco chief

TESCO IRELAND have appointed Tony Keohane as chief executive, succeeding Gordon Fryett, who has been chief executive since 2001 and who takes up a new role in the Tesco Group.

Mr Keohane, aged 52, is a native of Cork and has been a director of Tesco Ireland since its formation in 1997.

He began his career as a store manager at a number of Quinnsworth stores from 1978, becoming a regional manager in 1981.
